Privacy Policy
We believe privacy policies shouldn't require a law degree to read. Here is exactly how we handle your data when you use pomodorofocustimer—no jargon, no corporate double-speak.
The Short Version
We don't want your personal data. We built this tool to help people focus, not to harvest user profiles. By default, the timer works entirely in your browser, and we don't save your task history on our servers. Your workflow is your business, not ours.
What We Actually Collect (And Where It Goes)
When you use the free version of our timer without an account, here is what happens:
- Your Timer Data: When you add a task, change a color theme, or finish a Pomodoro session, that data is saved in your browser's "Local Storage". If you open a different browser, switch devices, or clear your cache, that data resets. We cannot see it, we do not sync it to a database, and we absolutely do not track what you are working on.
- Basic Website Analytics: Like almost every website on the internet, we use standard analytics tools to see basic traffic data. This helps us know if the site is crashing, which blog posts are popular, and roughly what countries our users are from. We don't know who you are personally, just that "someone from Canada visited the homepage using Chrome."
If You Create an Account
We offer an optional account system for users who want to save their tasks and settings across different devices. If you choose to register, we ask for an email address and a password.
We encrypt your password instantly. We only use your email to verify your login or send you a password reset link if you get locked out. We will never sell your email to marketers, and we don't send spammy "we miss you" newsletters.
Ads & How We Keep the Lights On
Running a website used by a lot of people costs money. To keep the core timer 100% free, we display non-intrusive advertisements (typically provided through Google AdSense).
These third-party ad providers may use cookies (small text files placed on your device) to serve ads based on your previous visits to our site or other sites on the internet. You can easily opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings or by using a standard ad-blocker. We respect your choice either way.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever profoundly change how we handle data—for example, if we introduce a completely new sync feature—we will update this page to reflect that. But our core philosophy will always remain the same: your focus belongs to you, and your data does too.
